My twisted gingham quilt is now in the shop. This quilt features prints from the Everglades Collection by Michael Miller Fabrics and also some basics from Riley Blake Designs. It was straight line quilted and the pink really makes this one pop!
Pinkalicious
Here’s today’s pull…Pinkalicious. My favorite color in many different shades. Time to cut into this bright and cheery stack. Happy Tuesday!!
Lastly here’s a funny one…as I was getting some new prints ready to be photographed and listed, I had a little photobomber appear. Here is Olive again, the Maine Coon Cat. She loves fabric, so she’s definitely a keeper!
Olive Loves Quilts
Happy Tuesday! My plus sign quilt is now complete, and I’ve got some great pics to share. What I also have to share is that we recently got a new kitten and her name is Olive. She is a Maine Coon Cat, and she is adorable. What is cuter than a sweet little kitten you might ask? Well, a sweet little kitten who loves her quilts. Meet Miss Olive.
Olive came to live with us at three months old. We have another cat named Cali, and a dog named Bandit. Bandit loves Olive, but she’s not too sure about dogs yet. Olive loves Cali, but Cali sadly does not love her. Needless to say, Olive has two kids who absolutely adore her. She’s quite spoiled already.
Just a girl and her kitty. It doesn’t get much better than that!
Ok, now that I have shared this cuteness overload I’ve got to get back on track. (Don’t worry, I’m sure Olive will appear in many more photos, and maybe we can catch a glimpse of Cali the calico if she ever feels the urge to pose for me).
This plus sign quilt was made with Birch Organic Fabric in Birch basics and cream solid. This was the first time I have used Birch Fabric for a quilt, and it was great to work with, not to mention it’s certified organic for those who prefer such fabrics. I used straight line quilting and after completion let the washing machine do its final quilt magic. Check out the shop to see what other prints I have in stock from this great company under the Birch Fabric Section; you will not be disappointed.
Please excuse my quilt holder, she’s not quite tall enough to get the whole thing off the ground, but you can certainly get the full picture.
Miss Camrynn, my quilt model and quilt enthusiast. If it passes the Camrynn test, you know it’s a good one! 🙂
Butterflies
Here’s a quick sneak peek of some squares going into my next butterfly quilt. I love pink, it is hands down my favorite color. What’s even better is adding some black and white to it! 😍 These prints are a mixup of Cotton + Steel collections Panorama Sunshine and Snap to Grid. I think this color palette is going to be smokin’!
Happy Monday!
Monday’s always call for a stronger cup of coffee in my opinion. This Monday, however, wasn’t so dreaded like all other Monday’s are. Why might you ask? Well over the weekend I became a Bernina owner. That’s right. I’ve been a Juki girl up until now. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Juki’s, but I’ve dreamt of a Bernina since I first saw them at a local quilt shop in my area.
After having a mechanical issue with my beloved Juki TL 2200 QVP mini and not being able to use it, I’ve found that I’ve got to send it back to the Juki plant to be repaired. I’m going to be without it for at least three weeks. I’ve been unable to use it for three weeks already. My back up, the Juki DX 2000 QVP, is running in tip-top shape but boys did I notice the difference in power going from the TL to DX. The primary use for my machine consists of quilting and tote bags. That translates to multiple layers and thick layers at that. I decided to brainstorm a new plan. I needed two machines that had equally as much power. One as my main machine and one as my back up if my main machine was out of commission. That’s when I decided a Bernina should be my main sewing machine and when my Juki is fixed and working again it can take the spot as my back up.
I made a trip back to my local dealer, and after much thought, I came home with a Bernina. I have to say it is a fantastic machine. There are so many features that it’s incredible to think of all the options this sewing machine holds. I’m starting the process of trying to teach myself all the ins and outs and figure out everything this machine has to offer. I will be sharing my progress as I go. Wish me luck!
P.S. Here’s a sneak peek at my Birch Basics quilt….stay tuned for more!
Good Vibe Tuesday
This seems appropriate for today. I’m feeling like good vibes will be coming through any minute now. How can they not when you have quilting and fabric on your mind? That is one of the many things I love about sewing. Whenever I’m in need of positive vibes or thoughts, I take a peek at my fabric stash, and it ALWAYS makes me smile. All the bright colors and patterns are the best recipe for a cheerful mood. There will always be negative energy out there, but there is something about making something useful with your own two hands that can make all the negativity around you go away.
These next photos are very near and dear to me. My sweet little Camrynn recently graduated from preschool. I made both of her teachers a super cute quilt as a parting gift, and these are some of the photos we snagged from our little shoot. This quilt was created with the Best of Sarah Jane line from Michael Miller Fabrics, picked out especially by Miss Camrynn. The childlike, whimsical prints were perfect for the occasion not to mention the awesome balloons. If you are looking for fabric to capture a specific childhood memory, I highly suggest looking into Sarah Jane’s fabric lines. She is an exceptional artist and can capture childhood innocence like no other.
These quilts were made using 5-inch squares and straight line quilting. They came out so stinkin’ cute if I do say so myself! Camrynn approved, and she was sure her teachers would too!
Please excuse the hair; it was a little windy out this day, so we tucked most of it under the quilt long enough to snap a quick shot!
Last but not least, the sweet little graduate on her special day! (Gosh I love that missing tooth!)
In the end, Project Graduation Quilts were a success and loved by all. We will sure miss you, Miss Judi and Miss Diane! :
